What a season! This year’s Tamworth A Grade season was a cracker.
The Hornets, Donx and Honey Badgers battled it out over 9 rounds throughout the year with the Badgers winning both the minor and major premiership. Good year to be a Badger!
All clubs had a solid core squad with a number of debutants in the mix.
BADGERS:
The season began well for the Badgers with a couple of early wins. Archie Eather, Lachie McNee, Seth and Ezra Axon formed the nucleus of the team with Ryan Cumberland, Simon Peyhardi, Aidan Hetherington, Henry George and Jack Watkins making up the collective squad. The experience of Archie Eather and Lachie McNee in particular was plain to see rippling through the team and building confidence throughout with every game.
Not even a few injuries leading into the Grand Final could slow them down as they took down the Donx in the most nail-biting game to close out a memorable season.
HORNETS:
Plenty of growth in the Hornets nest in 2025 with lots of young guns coming up the ranks and finding their place. Henry Cowell transferred from the Badgers to the Hornets this year and Logan Rust and Kobe Lane made their A Grade debuts and proved to be solid additions to the squad consisting of Ben Hope, Lachie French, Tom MacAlpine, and Kyle Fensbo.
The Hornets found their stride by mid season after a win in Round 5 against the Badgers, but fell short of making the Grand Final. No doubt these guys will be chomping at the bit in 2026.
DONX
It was a steady season for the Donx. This year’s squad was nearly identical to last year, including Fred Eather, Nikala Murray, Cooper Gale, Liam Smith, Jack Mitchell, Lachie Butters, with the addition of debutants Judah Cann and David Ross, and special appearance from Summer Fraser. Solid lineup from the squad each round with plenty of experience and growth. After coming up short in the Grand Final against the Badgers, they are already looking forward to a strong push next season.
2026
The 2026 A Grade season is stirring up excitement already with live streaming and commentary already generating buzz in the local community. Until then, the squads will rest up for a few months, then kick it back into gear for next season. Bring it on!
