Bouldering is all about the ability to adapt to change. However, too much change can be intimidating so there's a natural balance somewhere and it's challenging to define a line in the sand here.
The typical boulder gym resets boulders weekly on a sectional basis. In Tamworth, we set differently for a range of reasons and the T4E sport we run is a major one. Change is inevitable so it's about managing expectations around this. Round 5 in all divisions of the T4E is where it's at.
From Round 5 onwards, expect that anything can change. If your score expectations are hinged on only a small tight group of specific boulders and those boulders change, then you might want to consider broadening your approach.
Most changes won't be dramatic. But if you're aware that change is inevitable then you'll be better prepared and that transfers to better outcomes all round.
P.S This doesn't mean for one second that change won't happen before round 5. It will. However, it'll be geared towards additional options rather than complete change. (eg. addition of zones and more boulders).
